Went to Amsterdam in June
The weather was sunny.
But not for long
It rains...and cold
But it's Ok
STill tolerable.
One thing about the Netherlands, I don't have to fill in that tiny imigration form before we land.
Stayed at Amsterdam.
The hotel that we booked was not good.
The room was supersmall.
But service wise...Ok.
We moved to Crowne hotel the day after.
Cause there was no air cond.
The weather was hot, especially when you're inside.
The sun was still shining at 9 pm.
So ...guess what we cabut to look for airconditioned room..heheh.
Transportation
Took the train .
Cheap, easy, convenient.
If you are too tired to walk.

Winter holiday Korea december 2011
This time it's Korea. left ayip behind coz he's still an infant. But we brought cen along. even though was advised to buy winter clothes in Korea, we still get at least one piece of downjacket, longjohns, socks, gloves, scarf and hats from Universal traveller...where else..no choice. We did'nt get into our longjohns until we arrived in incheon airport. The taxi was waiting for us. we had to rent a big one with five of us and four luggages....ordinary taxi wouldn't fit.
We arrived at 7 am and temperature was (-3 C). freezing cold. We stayed at western coop at dongdaemun. It was an apartment hotel with one queen bed and two single beds. They also provide a small kitchen with induction cooker, a pot, an electric kettle plus plates + forks + spoon + knife + mugs + soup bowl (in 4). Even a bottle of wash detergent. Other facilities include a DVD player, TV, free internet, towels, bodywash + body shampoo. Within the hotel there's a laundry room where you can wash and dry your clothes...it's 1000 won per wash but you gotta have 500 won coins..cos the machine only accepts coins. Of course iron was available at the same room as well.
We arrived early, but chek-in is only at 2pm. left our luggages at the hotel lobby. wnet for a stroll looking for food. There's Lotteria..a fast food restaurant just across the street. they have shrimps and squids bites and cheesestick which nina and Cen loved so much.
within walking distance there a bakery store called Paris Baguette..they sell soft and yummy breadstick. A convenience store similar to 7-11 is next to the hotel. we bought most of our food and snacks there. Nina...she craved for those banana milk..which does not go well down my throat.
Dongdaemun is a shopping district but unlike Namdaemun it consists of shopbuilding with many small shops that sell similar items. For example tile and wallpaper shops and there's a whole stretch of shops that sell similar item. As you walk along..there will be more shops..rows of shops selling towels, lamps, jewelleries, pharmacies, fabrics and lots more. Big shopping complexes like Migliore and Doota is here. There's more choice for your winterwear shopping. We bought Cens winterboots cause she cried when her feet hurts due to cold weather. After wearing the winter boots, she's okay. Its about 33,000 won.
The subway train...hmmm convenient yet..a bit trouble some when you're with a toddler all wrapped in heavy thick clothes. Not all have escalator. Most with stairs. cen had to get off her stroller and walk. They do have elevators but its quite a distance that made you decide to walk uo the stairs instead. So sometimes getting on a taxi or walk on foot is better than taking the trains. Depends on the distance your'e going.
The next day went to Lotte world. I am not sure about Korean calender..when we were there all teenagers and preschoolers were there. It was jammed packed. The lines were long cause of this. but we managed to ride the thrill rides that we wanted. Of course only my two teenagers took the thrill rides. I was with Cen at Kidstoria most of the time...this is like kids heaven. we ate waffles, cheese pizza and peanut butter squid while inside lotte world. There is Lotteria and Pizzahut plus in the same complex building but its outside Lotte world.
On the third day, we visited children's grand park. It's huge but empty. The children played and explore for a while. Nothing much. The tourist information did not speak english which made it worst. Then off to a public sledding place. Artificial snow but teens had great fun. Next, to ice skating rink at seoul city. Cen tried, but she fell most of the time. Abah was trying to skate...it was fun...ny..hehehe..It was a 1-hour rent. After we're done a nice Korean lady showed us to Namdaemun. we walked there.
Namdaemun is another shopping heaven. endless stalls selling winterwears and bags. Every now and then a foodstall as well. Unable to explore much cause my toddler was cranky. Had to hurry home.
On the fourth day, went to Insadong. Nice and relaxing visit. Saw a demo on how they made this sweet cake which was not that sweet. Bought fried sweet potato as well. Bought soouvenirs here. Then we went to Myeongdong. It was similar to namdaemun.... flooded with tourist. Sold similar items. But there were other small shops and big shopping complexes as well. Lots of food restaurant but had to go upstairs for seats..so with Cen sleeping in her stroller..not so convenient...so we decided to go ahead to Namsan tower.
Seoul tower. took a taxi there. Paid tickets for cable car ride up top. Visited teddy bear museum. They're so cute. They took the trouble to dress the teddy bears into soldiers, famers etc. Mutiple displays showing teddy bears as soldiers, teddy bears doing their daily chores, in markets, a wedding etcs. Took a photo in teddy bear town for 3000 won. Souvenirs shop was available where you can purchase teddy bears items.
We were tired and we want beef..we are carniovores. Took a taxi fro Namsan tower to Itaewon. Ate at a halal food restaurant..rather expensive. Should have chosen Mr Kebab instead...only about 5000 won per meal.
Woke up early...Nami Island today. Walked to the bus station. Bought tickets. The bus was for to and fro trip. Depart around 9 am. A 1 hour rides. Bus will wait til 4pm. Embark on a ferry. to get there. What else to do than picture taking. Rows and rows of trees to take pictures. They have cerami galleries and clay galleries but did not managed to go in. Busy oustside playing. Kids loved it. It was a big safe and open area for them to run and play around. Rented a bicycle and double bicycle to get around the island. Rented for 1 hour. Even though there's not much to do. Relaxing walk and nice views for photo made the vist worthwhile. Hey...if you miss Lotte world..there's always Genting highland. If you miss Nami..you will miss Nami. And I'm not saying this cause I like Winter sonata...in fact never watched one bit of that movie!! Back home early..but this time Nina is cranky..so couldn't make it to Dongdaemun night market..if there is one.
Fifth day. teens and abah went for ski to fulfil Nina snow dream. Me and cen were left behind. I wanted to try...but since I'm the caretaker...I'd rather stay away from possible injurious encounter....maybe next time when Ayip is much older...hehehe...

Hong Kong Disneyland
THE HOTEL
We went to Hong Kong in December 2009.
We went as a family with three children aged 9, 10 and 3 years old.
We stayed at Hollywood Hotel. A child friendly hotel with two queen sized beds for all five of us.
Since it was December, it was cold. I was warned by one of the passengers in the same flight with us that we actually need a winter clothing cause it can be quite cold.
But fortunately despite the cold, it is tolerable. I just used my blouse and my shawl only towards the evening. The kids went off with only the usual jacket.
On our first day, we just enjoyed the hotel. We actually went swimming in the pool and its outdoor despite the cold weather. They had a nice jacuzzi near the pool as well. They have a nice slides that goes right into the pool where my kids enjoyed.
The next day we went early. They have shuttle bus that pick us up from the hotel to Disneyland.
And the bus is free. This shuttle service will also pick you up from Disneyland after the closing fireworks at 8.30 p.m. We preferred this cause we had small kids along. And rushing for the train after a day in the park is not a good idea.
Disneyland The Rides
There are a lot of children rides. So my 3-year-old enjoyed it very much.
The Fantasy land: dumbo the flying elephant, cinderella carousel, the many adventures of winnie the pooh (quite a long queue), it's a small world boat ride
The adventureland: catch a raft ride to Tarzan tree house and explore as well as photo taking. Jungle river rides, with nice effects along the rides. Kids enjoyed it.
The show
The Fantasy land: Mickey phil harmagic: A 3D experience, sit at the centre and not in front. They have almost a semicircle screen that will have its effect if you sit at the centre. It is not a live show, so don't sit at the front row. The Golden Mickey is a live show. This one you need to catch the front seat. We love it.
Meet the characters
Photo sessions at the opening of the park. They also have the characters waiting at the Fantasy garden.
The fireworks
These fireworks show is at the closing of the park. We enjoyed it very much.
The food
There are small stalls along the street. We took corns, popcorns and sweet potatoes, ice creams, seafood. That was enough cause the weather is just nice and we don't feel that tired or hungry.

Flower decoration - simple and creative
Eid ul Fitri is nearing.
People are busy shopping for cookie jars, cakes, biscuit, curtains, flowers etc...
And I saw a lot of shops selling flowers...fake ones.
Some are too bright...but some are soooo beautiful.
I was tempted to buy, but had second thoughts over it.
So...how can I afford simple flower decoration without having too much to spend on it....and most importantly I am not a creative person...therefore creating my own bouquet of flower would be disastrous.
Browse in the internet..and found this simple solution.......
